traduction d'andré laroSe et Marcel MartelL e présent recueil en deux volumes a été colligé pour souligner le 150 e anniversaire de la Confédération canadienne.Il rassemble des travaux déjà publiés au sujet des peuples, des idées et des événements associés à la promulgation de l'Acte de l'Amérique du Nord britannique de 1867.De nature interdisciplinaire, ce recueil, qui vise à saisir les complexités des travaux savants sur la Confédération, fait ressortir l'évolution de l'interprétation de cet événement au fil du temps.Le discours historique sous-jacent aux études sur la Confédération contient une série d'explications complexes et contestées à la base de la politique contemporaine.Le but de ce recueil est d'exposer ces débats en présentant, outre des études « classiques » sur la Confédération, des travaux savants qui remettent en question les idées reçues sur le sujet et la manière habituelle de l'aborder.Il cherche à la fois à comprendre le passé et à jeter une lumière nouvelle sur les difficultés que l'on doit surmonter de nos jours et les problèmes auxquels il faudra nous attaquer.
