Abstract
Gerald Lynch Out of Irela nd Out of Ireland have we come. Great hatred, little room, Maimed us at the start. - Yeats I'm sitting in pooled tide water with my legs spread and the wooden toy boat stuck in sandy muck between them. I hear Sean coughing before I see his dirty knees at eye-level. The boat was a gift from Chris Kisbey when they left for a place called Sarnia in the middle of a jungle called Canada. Chris's Da said it's all petrol business there and an honest Irishman can get work. The boat's too clunky to float. Ignoring Sean I pick it up and a tiny bronze starfish falls off and a string of green slime clings. I want to lick the boat, I can taste the salty wood, but don't, I'm not a born eejit. Sean's knees are scabby black because Da's been making us all kneel on the floor twice a day and say the rosary for work. Our floor's all cementy not like the lovely padded kneelers in church (when we get to sit in a pew), it's full of pebbly holes, and Sean's not fit for it anymore. Da makes Mammy kneel too, her knees are always covered in sores anyway, really scabby, I think it's called sore … isis. I wanted to punch Chris Kisbey the one time he said something . Da never joins our praying. He walks behind us and hocks louies and drips them on our heads, only the boys, if you look back it's a cuff that'll put a different face on you. In really mad times he puts his knuckle in the groove at the bottom of your head and rubs it up hard and tips you over and it hurts for a long time. He always says, "Do youse think Jesus wants to be hearin' the rosary like it's a pig auction?" I don't think Jesus ever went to a pig auction. When Da's drunk with his friends he shouts about the church being all a cod. Sean makes a splash kicking my shin and I taste salt. "Gimme that," and coughs right on my head speckling the lovely pale wood of the boat with red. I squeeze it between both hands. "No it's mine, look what you done what's my head look! You're worse than Da!" Which is the worst thing we say to each other. 58 The McNeese Review Lynch 59 "Mammy says if you don't get home right away she'll scalp your arse. She's gonna anyway 'cause you're all wet again, eejit." "I don't care … It's mine." I hold the boat near my chest because Sean will snatch it and run. Maybe not, it's Sean not Cavan. "Sit and you can play with it too." "Who wants to play with a stupid boat that won't float anywhere or a stupid eejit like you. And Mammy says we better behave 'cause Da's mad again 'cause there's never work. She says we might be havin' to move to the Canada jungle too like the Kisbeys." He's getting out of breath. "… Máire and Treasa are crying like big babies about it. You better get home." He walks off kicking the water ahead of him, it looks like fun. He'll blame me for his getting wet. I wish now that I'd just given him the stupid boat. Or begged him harder to sit and play sailing to the Canada jungle with me in a coffin ship. He's my only friend now that Chris Kisbey's gone, the nicest man at the docks ever. He puts his big gnarly hand like a king crab on my shoulder and always bends down, he has no teeth and his breath smells worse than the back-lane dungill. "Tell yer da I could have need of him first thing tomorrow morning, will you do that, Paddy? And don't sit in the water no more, son, people'll think yer a born eejit sure." "Da says say...

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
