Justificativa/Problema: O conhecimento dos estudos existentes até o momento que relacionam HI e malignização é necessário para melhorar a prevenção e o tratamento da população. Objetivos: A presente revisão tem como objetivo elucidar a possível relação entre HI e o desenvolvimento de câncer. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada no período de Maio de 2023 até Dezembro de 2023, que objetiva responder a seguinte pergunta: “Existe relação entre hipóxia intermitente e o desenvolvimento de câncer?”. Para tanto, utilizou-se a base de dados Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MedLine) para a obtenção dos resultados. Foram utilizados os descritores “Hypoxemia”, “Apnea”, “Cancer”, “Malignancy” separados pelo operador booleano “AND” e incluídas suas variações no Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Resultados: Após a leitura e análise dos artigos, foram selecionados 10 para os resultados dessa revisão, que evidenciaram uma relação entre pacientes com hipóxia intermitente e a ocorrência de malignização. Conclusão: A influência da hipóxia intermitente no aumento ou redução da ocorrência de câncer se mostra de maneira distinta de acordo com o sítio em que esse ocorre e amostra avaliada.
