The Effects of Multisensory Environments(Snoezelen) on Sensory Processing and Occupational Performance Ability in Children with Developmental Delay: A Pilot study

Abstract

본 연구는 감각처리에 어려움이 있는 발달지연 아동을 대상으로 다감각환경(snoezelen)이 감각처리 및 작업수행능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 발달지연아동 10명을 대상으로 2023년 9월부터 11월까지 다감각환경 중재를 제공하였다. 다감각환경 프로그램은 4주 동안 주 2회, 총 8회기의 1회당 40분 중재가 시행되었다. 중재 효과를 확인하고자 중재 전과 후에 감각처리는 단축감각프로파일(SSP: Short Sensory Profile), 작업수행능력은 캐나다작업수행평가(COPM: Canadian Occupational Performance Measure)로 측정하였다. 수집된 데이터는 SPSS ver. 24.0를 사용하여 기술통계, 윌콕슨 부호 검정을 사용하여 분석였으며, 통계학적 유의수준은 .05로 설정하였다. SSP 점수는 중재 전 140.50±14.14점에서 중재 후에 156.40±14.35점으로 통계학적으로 유의하게 향상되었다. COPM 수행도 점수는 중재 전 3.10±1.20점에서 중재 후 5.90±1.20점으로, 만족도는 중재 전 4.20±1.14점에서 중재 후 7.60±1.43점으로 통계학적으로 유의하게 향상되었다(p <.05). 다감각환경 중재가 감각처리의 어려움이 있는 발달지연아동의 감각처리 및 작업수행능력에 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 발달지연아동의 감각처리 및 작업수행능력 향상을 위해 다감각환경 중재를 적용할 수 있다는 근거를 마련하였다. 추후 더 많은 발달지연아동을 대상으로 다감각환경 중재의 효과에 대해 다각적인 측면으로 검증해야할 것이다.
