Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract. The article analyzes a new monograph by N. M. Travkina, Doctor of Political Sciences, head of the center for internal political research at the Institute of the United States and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This paper examines the situation in the United States during the 2016 election campaign, as well as the situation in the country after D. Trump came to power. This study touches on a wide range of problems in the modern United States, which are generated primarily by the evolutionary changes in the us political system, which were reflected in the 2016 presidential campaign and in the subsequent activities of President Donald Trump. The article primarily focuses on the fact that Republicans and Democrats are currently experiencing big changes in the 2016 elections, two different approaches, two opposite views on the path that the country should follow, collided. This indicates that there was a polarization of American society, there was a split in the ideology of the power elite. It is concluded that the Trump revolution and his work as President marks a watershed in the development of American society, at least over the past 25-30 years.
