Abstract

Définir un programme d’enseignement grammatical implique de réfléchir aux finalités de cet enseignement et à la manière dont celles-ci s’articulent avec les compétences de production et de réception écrite et orale dans leur ensemble. Nous analysons les textes programmatiques de quatre entités politiques de la francophonie du Nord (Belgique francophone, France, Québec et Suisse romande) au regard des finalité qu’ils attribuent à l’enseignement grammatical. Il apparait que si tous ces programmes pensent l’enseignement de la grammaire au service de compétences communicationnelles, celles-ci sont centrales dans les programmes québecois qui traitent les savoirs grammaticaux comme des outils. Néanmoins, si les finalités plus réflexives envisageant la grammaire comme un moyen d’étudier la langue pour elle-même sont plus valorisées dans les programmes belges, français et suisses, la mise en œuvre de cette réflexivité pose problème et apparait même à certains égards plus convaincante dans les programmes québecois qui semblent pourtant en faire un objectif secondaire.
