Riassunto : « In occasione del LIII Congresso della SLI (Società di Linguistica italiana), nella sua relazione introduttiva, Gaetano Berruto si interrogava sull’insegnamento della linguistica, percepita da sempre come materia ostica nelle università italiane. Nello specifico si domandava quali fossero le difficoltà della disciplina, arrivando alla conclusione che il problema di base è che la linguistica «richiede una forma mentis e comunque una disposizione particolari», più scientifiche rispetto ad altre discipline umanistiche, ma non aderenti del tutto a quelle delle scienze esatte; dunque, il problema nello studio della linguistica sta nella necessità, aggiungeva Berruto, di «imparare un metodo nuovo, non solo contenuti ignoti e magari inaspettati» (Berruto, 2020: 17). Su questa linea si muove il nuovo Manuale di linguistica italiana di Elvira Assenza, Fabio Rossi e Fabio Ruggiano, offrendo un aggiornamento non soltanto dei temi, ma anche dei metodi disciplinari e delle correnti teoriche, di cui i corsi universitari avevano bisogno.
