Abstract
A relação entre violências de gênero, sofrimento psíquico e uso de medicamentos se faz urgente. Cada vez mais temos acesso a notícias de casos de assédio moral e sexual dentro das universidades brasileiras e endossamos os estudos que tratam dos sofrimentos causados por essas violências. Entendemos que esses recorrentes assédios expressam o que Bourdieu chama de violência simbólica e transforma radicalmente a vida pessoal e profissional das mulheres. A partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas, pudemos verificar o poder e também a hierarquia institucional presente nos assédios tratados. Além da dominação masculina, a vida acadêmica das mulheres é atravessada pela necessidade, imposta pelo neoliberalismo, de serem empreendedoras de si, conforme assinala Laval. O que decorre é a busca por agentes externos (medicamentos) que estimulam o autocontrole, gerenciamento de si, produtividade e sucesso. O uso de psicofármacos, e o discurso de auto responsabilização tiram das instituições qualquer responsabilidade com o adoecimento mental, pois ressignifica os problemas sociais como deficiências individuais, físicas e assim, remediáveis.
