Au Québec, le syntagme racisme systémique est très présent dans les discours médiatiques des dernières années, alors qu’il s’est retrouvé au cœur d’une polémique métalangagière où il s’est vu remis en question et commenté, notamment en raison de la non-reconnaissance du caractère systémique du racisme par le gouvernement de François Legault. Dans la foulée des débats ayant eu lieu à ce propos, cet article s’intéresse plus spécifiquement au syntagme racisme systémique dans les discours institutionnels, particulièrement ceux des institutions ayant le pouvoir de légiférer et celles gravitant autour d’elles (gouvernements fédéral et provincial et principaux partis politiques), en plus de celles qui sont directement concernées par les droits de la personne (commissions canadienne et québécoise des droits de la personne). Le syntagme racisme systémique n’a pas fait son entrée officielle dans la loi, mais il est de plus en plus présent dans les discours institutionnels. Dans un cadre d’analyse du discours, il s’agit plus particulièrement d’analyser la façon dont il y est employé pour voir s’il est accepté et utilisé comme tel, reconnaissant par le fait même la réalité du racisme systémique, ou, d’un autre côté, commenté ou remis en question, participant ainsi au débat à son propos.
