Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract Indigenous higher degree by research (HDR) students encounter persistent barriers within academia that impede their completion rates. This scoping review identified 17 papers published between 2016 and 2022 that relate to retention or completion rates of Indigenous HDR. Papers identified are from Australia, United States, New Zealand and Canada, and most of them have at least one Indigenous author. Two research questions guided this process: (1) What are the enablers that facilitate continuation and completion of HDR programs by Indigenous people? And (2) What barriers affect entry into, and completion of, HDR programs by Indigenous people? The review indicates a pressing need for enhanced support aimed at bolstering completion rates among Indigenous research students. What is required is prioritising various forms of assistance, including the provision of culturally responsive supervision, dedicated Indigenous staffed spaces, and a culturally secure environment that recognises and embraces Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
