Abstract
O objetivo foi identificar a relação entre a fragilidade dos idosos institucionalizados e suas características sociodemográficas e clínicas. Trata-se de um estudo transversal e exploratório, realizado com 49 idosos residentes em uma instituição de longa permanência no estado do Acre. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de um formulário para dados clínicos e sociodemográficos e da Escala de Fragilidade de Edmonton. A maioria dos participantes tinha entre 70 e 79 anos (41%), era do sexo masculino (76%) e solteiros (83%). Em termos de escolaridade, 45% tinham até oito anos de estudo, e 66% não eram aposentados. Além disso, 52% residiam na instituição há pelo menos quatro anos. Quanto à saúde, 41% apresentavam hipertensão arterial, 21% haviam sofrido acidente vascular cerebral e 97% usavam medicação contínua, com 66% utilizando pelo menos cinco medicamentos diariamente. Os resultados da escala revelaram que 97% apresentavam desafios cognitivos significativos. Na independência funcional, 52% necessitavam de ajuda em duas a quatro atividades diárias. Em termos emocionais, 52% relataram sentir-se tristes e 55% enfrentavam problemas de incontinência urinária. No teste "Levante e Ande cronometrado", 66% levaram mais de 20 segundos para concluir a tarefa. Os dados mostraram que 34% apresentavam fragilidade moderada e 28% fragilidade severa. Esses achados confirmam a influência das variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas na fragilidade dos idosos e destacam a urgência de estratégias de intervenção para promover um envelhecimento mais saudável e adaptável para essa população específica.
