Une majorité d’étudiants au baccalauréat en psychologie s’inscrivent dans ce programme dans l’espoir de devenir psychologues. Or, le baccalauréat en psychologie de l’Université Laval vise autant à former les étudiants pour « [...] la poursuite d’études de cycles supérieurs en psychologie en vue de mener une carrière en recherche [... qu’]en intervention comme psychologue » (Université Laval, s. d.). Malgré cela, il est de notre avis que la formation au baccalauréat ne met pas suffisamment en valeur les aspects positifs de la recherche en psychologie et pourrait favoriser davantage l’intérêt des étudiants pour un parcours dans ce domaine. Cet éditorial vise à faire avancer la réflexion sur la place souvent peu favorable qu’occupe la recherche dans les programmes de premier cycle en psychologie.
