Le Gouvernement du Québec a opté pour un modèle d’intervention dans les situations de négligence basé sur une approche écosystémique. Au-delà de cette orientation gouvernementale, comment les organisations de services concernées mettent-elles en œuvre les composantes de ce modèle d’intervention ? La présente étude vise à situer le modèle québécois parmi les différentes approches qui existent, à décrire ses composantes et à faire état des défis qui accompagnent son actualisation sur le terrain. Elle est basée sur 93 entretiens semi-dirigés réalisés auprès des acteurs (intervenants et parents) de 22 réseaux locaux de services intervenant auprès des enfants en situation de négligence, répartis dans l’ensemble de la province de Québec. Les résultats montrent que l’approche écosystémique fait maintenant partie du discours des intervenants de la protection de l’enfance, des partenaires et même de celui des parents. Cependant, la concrétisation de cette approche soulève deux grands défis : le temps consacré à bâtir les collaborations nécessaires tant avec les familles qu’avec les autres acteurs de la collectivité ; et le besoin des intervenants d’être accompagné afin de bien maîtriser l’approche. Des aménagements dans la structure administrative en place pourraient permettre de mieux reconnaître l’investissement et l’expertise qui sont indispensables afin de bien articuler une démarche écosystémique.
