Abstract
En este trabajo presentamos el proceso que nos permitió transformar un cuestionamiento docente inicial, surgido de la práctica, en una problemática de investigación en el área de la didáctica de la matemática. En primer lugar, describimos el contexto donde surgió el cuestionamiento docente inicial: un curso universitario de Introducción al Análisis de variable real y el aprendizaje de una noción en particular, la propiedad de completitud del sistema de los números reales. En segundo lugar, desarrollamos un estado del arte donde analizamos trabajos de corte histórico-epistemológico sobre la propiedad de completitud e investigaciones relacionadas con la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de esta propiedad. Esta revisión nos aportó elementos para elaborar una primera formulación de nuestra pregunta de investigación teniendo en cuenta los resultados ya establecidos en el área. Presentamos la formulación definitiva de la pregunta de investigación luego de haber hecho explícito nuestro posicionamiento teórico dentro del campo de la didáctica de la matemática. De esta manera detallamos las etapas de este proceso que se inicia en un problema que proviene de la práctica y culmina con un problema situado en el campo de investigación de la didáctica de la matemática.
