Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

During the 230 years before their suppression in 1773, the Jesuits developed a culture with memoria as a key foundation. In Jesuit schools memoria cultivated through exercises provided students access to concepts from which they constructed an understanding of ancient (and by the mid-eighteenth century more recent) history. In Jesuit culture, memoria provided access to “Jesuit time”, in which narratives of Jesuit martyrdoms were recalled backwards from the moment of martyrdom to earlier points in the martyr's life. Such recollections provided guideposts for spiritual life, helped create a remembered common history, and were enshrined in writings and rituals that sustained the collective identity of the widely dispersed Jesuits and shaped such innovations as Matteo Ricci’s “Memory Palace”.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
