Dans le contexte historique canadien, la traduction et la publication d’un livre d’un auteur autochtone impliquent des engagements complexes de la part de tous les acteurs intervenant dans le processus : la personne qui écrit, la personne qui traduit, la maison d’édition, les réseaux de distribution, etc. L’acte de traduction ressort nécessairement d’un engagement culturel militant. Cet article présente l’auteure mi’kmaq Rita Joe et examine le contexte de production de la traduction d’auteur.e.s autochtone.s et les enjeux linguistiques qui compliquent ce travail au Canada Atlantique.
