Caracterización clínico-epidemiológica de los pacientes con COVID persistente en México", el cual me gustaría comentar.1 El COVID persistente consiste en un conjunto de síntomas que puede experimentar una persona después de presentar la enfermedad, generados por las secuelas pulmonares.Según cifras de poblaciones europeas y norteamericanas afectadas, estudios realizados por Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indican que entre 7.5 y 14 % de quienes presentaron COVID-19 agudo pueden padecer enfermedad persistente, proporción que varía de acuerdo con los países.Otra investigación similar se realizó en Perú, en el Hospital Regional Docente Clínico Quirúrgico "Daniel Alcides Carrión", de la ciudad de Huancayo.El estudio se basó en 88 expedientes clínicos de los años 2020 y 2021 de pacientes recuperados de COVID-19, quienes presentaron persistencia de síntomas después de la recuperación.La mitad de la muestra fue del sexo femenino, con una edad predominante de 36 a 59 años, con antecedente de diabetes y que se encontraba en la unidad de cuidados intensivos con síntomas persistentes de infección por SARS-CoV-2. 2 En tanto, en el estudio de investigación de Carpio se observó que el síndrome de COVID crónico afecta especialmente a población adulta cuyo sistema inmunitario está disminuido para contraatacar otras enfermedades con comorbilidades asociadas, lo que incrementa la mortalidad. 1 Ahora bien, existen otros síntomas perseverantes en pacientes con secuelas posagudas de COVID-19, como FinanciamientoEl autor declara que no hubo financiamiento.
