La transfictionnalité est différente de l'intertextualité puisque celle- ci veut dire qu'un texte s'appuie sur un autre texte d'après l'idée du récit, mais celle- là veut dire qu'un texte a en commun avec un autre texte un seul univers fictionnel. De là, nous pouvons dire que le personnage transfictionnel c'est celui qui traverse les frontières romanesques d'un roman à l'autre en constituant un cycle romanesque. Et c'est le cas avec les romans de Ying Chen. Cette écrivaine migrante qui traverse les frontières de son pays (La chine) pour vivre dans un autre pays (Le Canada) subit la dualité de vivre dans deux mondes différents dont l’un représente sa vie antérieure dans son pays natal, et l'autre incarne sa vie actuelle au Québec. Cette ambivalence se reflète sur l'héroïne des trois romans, ʺ Immobile, Querelle d'un squelette avec son double et Un enfant à ma porteʺ qui représentent le corpus de notre étude. Ces romans constituent ensemble un cycle romanesque de Ying Chen. C'est parce que l'héroïne traverse les frontières romanesques d'un roman à l'autre, bien que chacun des romans ait une unité romanesque indépendante (le récit a ses personnages, son intrigue, son dénouement). Mais, nous découvrons que l'auteure renouvelle le récit (qui relate la vie conjugale de l'héroïne avec son mari depuis leur première rencontre en train dans le premier roman, Immobile, jusqu’à leur mort ensemble sous les décombres d'un tremblement de terre dans le troisième récit, Un enfant à ma porte, ) d'un roman à l'autre.
