Abstract
Le burlesque, tendance aux origines italiennes, marque l’émergence du dernier mouvement qui rejette avec toute force la surveillance des institutions sur l’espace littéraire. Ce style, résultat de l’amalgame artificiel de nombreux procédés littéraires, couvre le texte d’un voile opaque compliquant l’herméneutique. Étant donné que ce courant puise ses forces de l’obscurité, il est sérieusement prohibé par les théoriciens aussi bien que par les théologiens de l’époque. Sur le plan littéraire, le grotesque est accusé de violer les principes du goût et de mettre en péril la clarté. Sur le plan éthique, son ambivalence est perçue comme un vecteur d’irreligion infiltrant des textes jusque-là jugés innocents. Enfin, politiquement, il devient inconcevable pour le Roi de tolérer des écrits qui colportent des conjurations contre son absolutisme. Ces jugements ont fait du burlesque le chant du cygne du courant oppositionnel au XVIIe siècle. Toutefois, il y a toujours la possibilité de mettre en scène le burlesque dans le genre dramatique car il compte une dynamique essentielle de l’euphorie. En outre, le burlesque s’avère moins rebelle dans le théâtre car il constitue un élément mineur de la mise en scène.
