Abstract
El deterioro cognitivo puede afectar significativamente la calidad de vida del adulto mayor, limitando su capacidad para realizar actividades diarias y mantener relaciones sociales. La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar los niveles de deterioro cognitivo durante la etapa de adultez tardía en la población de estudio. La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo con un diseño no experimental; se aplicó como instrumento el cuestionario de Evaluación cognitiva de Montreal a 60 personas adultas, de ambos sexos. Se realizó un análisis de Chi cuadrado para evaluar la relación entre los niveles de deterioro cognitivo y sus dimensiones en adultos mayores. Los hallazgos indican que la mayoría de los participantes se encuentra en las etapas iniciales de la vejez, con un 71.6% entre 65 y 70 años y una ligera predominancia femenina; solo el 21.6% pertenece al grupo de 71 a 80 años y existe escasa representación en edades más avanzadas. Un 73.3% presenta deterioro cognitivo moderado, el 20% leve y solo el 6.7% no muestra deterioro. Las áreas más afectadas con deterioro moderado son la identificación y el lenguaje, ambas con un 75%, mientras que la atención presenta el 66.7%. Aunque el análisis no reveló asociaciones significativas entre las dimensiones, los resultados subrayan la necesidad de intervenciones tempranas en salud cognitiva para adultos mayores en riesgo de demencia
