Les enquêtes dont la France dispose pour dresser le portrait des conditions de scolarité de ses élèves queers sont peu nombreuses et limitées sur le plan méthodologique. Pourtant, des événements d’actualité récents ont contribué à faire que l’Éducation nationale mette en place des initiatives de « lutte aux LGBTphobies » pour favoriser l’inclusion des élèves minoritaires sur les plans de l’orientation sexuelle ou de l’identité de genre. À partir de deux enquêtes menées auprès de jeunes queers scolarisé·e·s en France, cet article met en évidence l’impasse de cette conception de l’inclusion scolaire selon laquelle le « problème à régler » est celui de conflits isolés entre jeunes, plutôt que des oppressions systémiques et cishétéronormatives que le système scolaire contribue à alimenter. Il présente la pédagogie critique des normes comme approche privilégiée pour considérer l’institution scolaire comme véhiculant elle-même des normes de genre et de sexualité qui constituent les leviers de l’exclusion des jeunes queers qui la fréquentent.
