Abstract

L’itinérance est le plus souvent perçue et analysée à travers un prisme masculin, laissant dans l’ombre une réalité pourtant grandissante : celle des femmes en situation d’itinérance. Quelles sont les caractéristiques spécifiques à l’itinérance au féminin ? Comment cette situation est-elle vécue au quotidien ? Qui sont ces femmes dont les parcours demeurent invisibles ? Penser l’itinérance au féminin leur donne la parole. Captés par l’intermédiaire d’une démarche de recherche participative menée dans sept régions du Québec, leurs récits lèvent le voile sur des parcours de vie méconnus, révélant la complexité et la singularité de leur expérience. L’ouvrage explore des thématiques cruciales telles que le passage à la vie adulte, les traumatismes vécus, la violence subie ainsi que les enjeux liés à la sexualité et à l’intimité dans un contexte de précarité. Cela sans exclure les réalités des femmes appartenant ou s’identifiant aux communautés LGBTQIA2+ et autochtones qui enrichissent ainsi la compréhension de ces situations sociales invisibilisées. Il s’adresse aux intervenantes sociales et aux intervenants sociaux, aux chercheuses et aux chercheurs et à la communauté étudiante. Rigueur scientifique et sensibilité humaine se conjuguent ici parfaitement et mènent vers des pistes de solution concrètes pour repenser les pratiques d’intervention, développer une approche plus inclusive et un accompagnement mieux adapté aux réalités et aux besoins de ces femmes.
