Abstract
Ce volume de Repères, consacré aux objets d’enseignement et aux sujets apprenants à l’école dite maternelle, s’inscrit dans un contexte de réformes des systèmes éducatifs. En effet, dans plusieurs pays francophones se manifeste une tendance à un abaissement de l’âge d’instruction obligatoire, alors que ce dernier est fixé en France à 3 ans, à 4 ans en Suisse romande depuis 2009 avec un délai transitoire de mise en œuvre de 6 ans laissé aux cantons, à 5 ans en Belgique depuis la rentrée 2020, à 6 ans au Canada (Québec). Si l’idée générale qui préside à cette tendance est celle d’une lutte contre les inégalités, son opérationnalisation interroge la recherche en didactique du français. C’est de longue date (Plaisance, 1986) que la sociologie a alimenté les débats sur l’école maternelle, dont le double rôle éducatif et d’instruction en fait un secteur de l’éducation particulièrement délicat. Les structures d’accueil d’enfants qui, tout en étant « tous [en grande section] à l’école maternelle, au même moment, dans la même société, ne vivent pas du tout les mêmes réalités » (Lahire, 2019 ; Garnier, 2016 ; Joigneaux, 2009 ; Laparra et Margolinas, 2016) méritent d’être étudiées non seulement au regard des inégalités sociales, scolaires et linguistiques des apprenants mais aussi des objets d’enseignement et d’apprentissage qui s’y construisent.
