Abstract
Cet article de rapport et commentaire de lecture traite uniquement du chapitre 8, à titre d’exemple, et ce n’est pas obligatoirement le meilleur, mais celui qui intéressera sans doute les plus les chercheurs hors d’Amérique du Nord. couvre les approches politiques du XXe et XXIe siècle (pp. 198-231) : les diverses approches Marxistes de la littérature en Allemagne, en France, et en Angleterre où elle devient « approche culturelle » ; puis les études postcoloniales (de l’Orientialisme d’E. Said, à H. L. Gates sur la tradition afro-américaine) ; « Critical Race Theory » et « diversité » ; la théorie féministe, des figures fondatrices aux développements qui ont suivi, c’est-à-dire les théories de la sexualité et Queer, Sedgwick et J. Butler ; puis « Disability Studies » en appoint à l’intersectionnalité et les études de l’anthropocène et environnementales. Je recommande la lecture de ce livre d’introduction aux étudiants de maîtrise pour s’orienter et choisir les théories adaptées à leurs sujets de recherche, ou aux doctorants qui doivent se rattraper en la matière. Ce livre est bien fait, avec des suggestions de lectures complémentaires en fin de chapitre.
