Plain Language SummaryWhat is this summary about?This is a summary of an article that describes the results of the MycarinG clinical study.Generalised myasthenia gravis is a rare, chronic (long-lasting) and fluctuating autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness and fatigue (a sense of exhaustion). These symptoms can significantly impact the quality of life of people living with the disease, and their caregivers and families. Conventional treatments for myasthenia gravis do not always work well, and often have side effects that can limit their use, so there is a need for new and improved treatments. The MycarinG clinical study looked at whether taking rozanolixizumab once per week for 6 weeks was better at treating symptoms of generalised myasthenia gravis than a placebo.What were the results?The results of this 18-week study showed that symptoms of myasthenia gravis improved by a larger extent for people who took rozanolixizumab than for people who took placebo.
