Abstract
Chi Zijian, the “Daughter of the Polar Regions”, stands on the faraway land of Northeast China, witnessing the vicissitudes of history, writing about the changes of the century, and conveying genuine feelings in the folk. The Last Quarter of the Moon, Manchukuo, and The Stories of Northeast China are examples of the life texture and historical field of the literary map of Northeast China. The reason for her narratives can be found the indelible memories of her childhood and the agrestic culture with strong regional characteristics are constantly fed into her words. In terms of narrative style, her gentle description based on everyday folklore skillfully sets up narratives and story time. At the level of narrative significance, under Chi’s supple narratives, national culture, ethnic group memory, and urban life leap onto the page. Under the novel aesthetic illumination she presents, the resilient and tenacious agrestic spirit stretches everlastingly.
