Abstract
• No evidence that one surgery is superior to the other, a margin width of at least 2 mm minimizes the risk of recurrence • The addition of radiation (RT) after BCS in DCIS patients reduced local recurrence (LR) but showed no survival difference. • The addition of boost RT in non-low risk DCIS reduced LR with an increase in adverse events but showed no survival difference. • Moderately hypofractionated RT was found to be as effective as conventional RT in non-low risk DCIS patients who underwent BCS. • Partial breast RT was found to be as effective as whole breast RT in terms of LR rates.
