Abstract
L’article propose d’analyser les résonances entre le renouveau cinématographique et le renouveau médiatique des années 60 à travers l’étude de trois fictions réalisées par Gilles Groulx. Sont ciblés les liens apparents entre la représentation que Groulx fait des médias et certains faits historiques associés aux profondes métamorphoses du milieu journalistique de cet âge d’or de l’information. De plus, en s’intéressant aux rapports qu’entretiennent les personnages de Groulx avec les médias d’information de l’époque, il est possible de deviner une certaine ambiguïté : si ces jeunes gens se montrent à certains moments critiques face à ces instances, ils en sont aussi souvent très dépendants. Ce portrait fait par Groulx suscite une réflexion sur le rôle éthique et social des médias d’information qui, pour le cinéaste, sont aussi essentiels à une société moderne qu’inquiétants lorsqu’ils deviennent le siège d’une certaine aliénation. Enfin, il est montré que, pour Gilles Groulx qui se donne le titre de cinéaste-journaliste, le cinéma peut, à certains moments, combler les lacunes des médias d’information.
