Abstract

The Brockhouse sector of the Canadian Light Source is a suite of three hard X-ray beamlines dedicated to X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scattering for materials science. The beamlines opened for general users during 2020–2021. Multiple experimental stations enable several techniques, including synchrotron high-resolution powder XRD, high-energy XRD, thin film characterization, total scattering for pair distribution function experiments, small-angle X-ray scattering, and in situ experiments with multiple environments. The Canadian chemistry community eagerly seized the new opportunities for in-depth structural characterization of materials, with applications in numerous research areas. In this manuscript, we showcase six different examples of how the Brockhouse sector has helped chemists in their unique research interests, offering a glimpse into the countless opportunities at our beamlines.
