Cet article propose une réflexion sur l’intégration des études du handicap (Disability Studies) dans l’enseignement de la littérature francophone africaine au sein des universités nigérianes. Cette réflexion est basée sur le manque visible des recherches (publications) émanant des universités nigérianes traitant le thème du handicap. Un manque prouvant que les départements de français semblent peu sensibles à la question du handicap. En se penchant sur les fondements théoriques des disability studies, il est argumenté que l’intégration de cette approche permettra aux universitaires de renouveler la lecture et l’analyse des textes littéraires africains. Les questions pertinentes au handicap telles les représentations du corps, la marginalité, le stéréotype et la différence dans les textes littéraires d’origine africaine seront mises en lumière. En plaidant pour une pédagogie plus inclusive, l’article suggère des pistes concrètes d’intégration des études du handicap dans les curricula tout en insistant sur leurs bénéfices pédagogiques, critiques et sociaux. En conclusion, l’article affirme que l’introduction des études du handicap ne constitue pas un simple enrichissement académique mais un véritable geste éthique, social et épistémologique en faveur des corps marginalisés en littérature francophone africaine.
