Abstract
In order to study the eccentric wear mechanism of non-spherical single cone bit, numerical analysis method is used to establish bit-rock interaction model. Axial and lateral loads of bit are obtained and tooth load curve of bit are analyzed. Tangential, radial, and axial loads of teeth were obtained by numerical method. The peak value is statistically analyzed and the contact time between tooth and rock is analyzed. The results show that there is large axial impacting load, so the rock is broken by tooth combined with impacting and scraping. There is large lateral load during bit breaking rock in horizontal direction and the lateral vibration causes gauge teeth wear. Lateral load will cause bit tilting resulting in irregular well trajectory and bit lateral vibration will cause irregular hole cross-section. Teeth load of each rings is different and No.3 tooth’s load is largest in each direction. The contact time of No. 5, 6, 7, and 8 teeth is longer from entering to leaving rock, so the rock breaking method of these tooth is mainly through scraping. No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 teeth contact rock for a short time, indicating that the rock-breaking method has a greater impact on the rock.
