Les implications de la corporation du Canadien de Montréal pour la société québécoise Audrey Laurin-LamotheLa popularité dont jouit le Canadien ne doit pas nous amener à faire une économie de sa critique.En établissant diverses franchises dans le sud des États-Unis, la Ligue nationale de hockey a montré que le hockey professionnel est aujourd'hui largement étranger à ses racines historiques et à la culture populaire locale 1 .Les moyens déployés par la ligue pour imposer une franchise dans ces communautés en accélérant l'inscription identitaire d'un club dans sa nouvelle ville montrent à quel point une analyse systématique du lien entre culture et corporation est pertinente.Pensons à Anaheim, qui est en quelque sorte l'exemple parfait d'une stratégie d'implantation : devant la grande popularité de son film The Mighty Ducks, la Walt Disney Company demanda et obtint de la LNH qu'une franchise lui soit octroyée.C'est Anaheim, en banlieue de Los Angeles, qui en est la ville hôte et de nombreuses campagnes marketing y furent organisées.L'objectif du présent chapitre est de traiter de la place grandissante qu'occupe le Canadien de Montréal dans notre société, en tant que corpo-1.
