Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Froth flotation efficiency depends on froth stability and entrainment, yet the role of froth zone water content is underexplored. This study examines how top-of-froth water content affects air recovery, froth stability, and entrainment in a lab-scale flotation column with and without hematite. Real-time conductivity measurements revealed strong correlations: increased water content led to higher water overflow and entrainment, with a linear rise in entrainment factor up to saturation.Three operational zones emerged—cleaning, saturation, and recovery—each with distinct trade-offs between air recovery and entrainment. In the cleaning zone, small increases in water content significantly enhanced air recovery with minimal entrainment. In the saturation zone, further increases had little impact on air recovery but sharply raised entrainment and water overflow. In the recovery zone, higher water content boosted air recovery with a moderated effect on entrainment. These findings highlight froth water content as a real-time indicator for optimizing the froth zone and flotation performance.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
