La vulnérabilité des activités touristiques côtières face aux conséquences des changements climatiques n’est plus à démontrer. L’objectif est ici de comprendre comment les parties prenantes du tourisme côtier élaborent des mesures adaptatives afin de surmonter les effets des changements climatiques. Le territoire considéré est celui de la MRC Rimouski-Neigette, où les ondes de tempête, l’érosion côtière et la submersion marine sont présentes. Les dommages causés aux bâtiments d’ici 2065 sont estimés à 96 millions de dollars (Bernatchez et al., 2015). Pour répondre à l’objectif de l’étude, une méthodologie qualitative par entrevues semi-dirigées auprès des acteurs clés a été favorisée. Les résultats montrent notamment que les organisations touristiques sont conscientes de la problématique et mettent en place diverses mesures d’adaptation, alors que les responsables gouvernementaux, de concert avec les scientifiques et les OBNL, documentent les phénomènes, développent des techniques d’adaptation et vulgarisent les connaissances sur le sujet. La pertinence sociale de cette étude est manifeste et est en ligne droite avec l’axe 5 du Plan d’action pour un tourisme responsable et durable 2020- 2025 du ministère du Tourisme particulièrement dans l’accompagnement des parties prenantes dans l’adaptation aux changements climatiques.
