Abstract
Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan 1800-luvun lopun ja 1900-luvun alun Inkerin suomalaista kirjallisuutta, joka muodostaa ulkosuomalaisen kirjallisuuden vähälle huomiolle jääneen haaran. Keskiössä ovat kuvaukset, kertomukset, runot ja näytelmät, jotka ilmestyivät Pietarin suomenkielisissä sanoma- ja aikakauslehdissä. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan, kuinka paikallisväritys, kansallinen identiteetti ja didaktisuus punoutuvat yhteen aikakauden kaunokirjallisissa teksteissä. Kirjoittajakunnan muodostivat pääosin suomalaiset opettajat, itseoppineet kansankirjailijat sekä erinäköiset älymystön edustajat. Kansallinen herättäminen, suomalaisuuden vaaliminen ja venäläistämisuhan torjuminen olivat varhaisen Inkerin suomalaisen kirjallisuuden keskeisiä aiheita. Myös paikallisuuden korostaminen – esimerkiksi murteiden käyttö vuoropuheluissa ja kansatieteellisesti tarkat kuvaukset – oli tärkeässä asemassa. Artikkeli antaa kokonaiskuvan varhaisen Inkerin suomalaisen kirjallisuuden luonteesta ja asemoi sen osaksi suomalaista ”kansankirjallisuuden” perinnettä tuoden samalla esiin sen historiallisen ja kulttuurisen omaleimaisuuden.
