der mechanischen Kausalität nahekommen, entspricht keinem umfassend wissenschaftlichen Standpunkt.Und:In die Auseinandersetzung zwischen angeblich allein «wissenschaftlicher Medizin> und den sogenannten «Au- ßenseitermethoden) spielt immer noch der mittelalterliche Weltanschauungskampf zwischen Nominalismus und Idealrealismus unter anderem Namen und in anderem Gewände herein.Damit wäre aber SCHELLING unmittelbar im Gegenwartsgeschehen der Entwicklung einer über die Naturwissenschaft hinausreifenden Medizin voll präsent.Konnte man noch 1954 zum 100.Todestag des «Ersten Denkers Deutschlands» in einem medi- zinischen Fachblatt sagen: Es wird manchem Arzt der Gegenwart kaum glaubhaft erscheinen, daß Probleme, die hier (in W. KRETSCHMERS Aufsatz über SCHELLING in der Deutschen medizinischen Wochenschrift 1954) geschildert werden, vor nur hundert Jahren die deutsche Medizin bewegt haben, so muß heute zum 200.Ge- burtstag mit erhöhtem Ernst auf die mahnende Geistgestalt SCHELLINGS als eines Idealrealisten hingewiesen werden, die in den gegenwärtig erst anhebenden Kampfauseinandersetzungen noch manches Wort wird mitzusprechen haben.
