La littérature pour la jeunesse est parfois considérée comme le parent pauvre des médias et de la presse culturelle française : l’article étudie sur une période d’un an (de mars 2021 à mars 2022) la visibilité ou l’invisibilité de la littérature pour la jeunesse dans les pages culturelles de la presse écrite, afin de confirmer ou d’infirmer l’opinion souvent partagée par les acteur·rices de littérature jeunesse selon laquelle la littérature pour la jeunesse serait méprisée par les médias. Celle-ci a acquis une légitimité paradoxale, à la marge de la littérature dite générale et pourtant dotée de structures critiques propres. Le corpus étendu à l’ensemble de la presse régionale met aussi au jour une tout autre place accordée à la littérature pour la jeunesse, conçue comme productrice d’objets culturels, placée au cœur de processus de médiation culturelle, apparaissant comme une expérience à part entière pour les lecteur·rices, vivante et dynamique.
