Misfarvning af blyhvide højlys på tegninger, fotografi og grafik er et almindeligt kendt fænomen i grafiske samlinger, når der er forurening i form af svovlbrinte til stede. Ændringen i det visuelle udtryk er til tider meget dramatisk, og værkernes kunstneriske værdi forringes derfor mærkbart. I flere tilfælde har man fx på Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) valgt, at værkerne ikke længere er egnede til at udstille eller udlåne.<br/>SMK og Det Kgl. Bibliotek har i 2024 afsluttet et forskningsprojekt, der undersøger årsager til mørkning af højlys på kunstværker på papir. Projektet har kørt over de seneste 3 år, og har ført til en række spændende resultater. Det gør det nu muligt at give anbefalinger til, hvordan museer kan forsøge at sikre sig, at værker med blyhvidt undgår at blive misfarvede.
