Abstract
Kapitlet er en historie om et forskningsmiljøs etablering og udvikling under omskiftelige vilkår samt en fortælling om, hvordan kritisk forskning blev forsøgt knægtet. Udgangspunktet for kapitlet er dannelsen af Center for forskning i Idræt, Sundhed og Civilsamfund (CISC) i 2004, hvis 20-års jubilæum er anledningen til denne antologi. Hvordan opstod forskningen i idræt og kropskultur ved Gerlev Idrætshøjskole, som CISC er en efterfølger af? Hvordan og hvorfor forsøgte kulturminister Brian Mikkelsen at lukke denne forskning i Gerlev? Hvordan førte dette til dannelsen af et forskningscenter på Syddansk Universitet? Hvilken forskning er det lykkedes CISC at fastholde og udvikle, selvom det overvejende er finansieret af projektbevillinger fra fonde, kommuner og organisationer? Og hvilke erfaringer er der med det tætte samspil mellem forskning og praksis, der er et af kendetegnende ved CISC.
