À partir d’entretiens effectués avec des acteurs agricoles d’Île-de-France, cet article a pour objectif d’étudier les motivations et les résistances des agriculteurs français pour la mise en place d’une transition agro-écologique. Les principaux leviers pour changer de modèle agricole reposent sur le constat partagé d’une accélération des événements climatiques extrêmes, la volonté de transmettre une exploitation pérenne et le partage d’expérience avec d’autres agriculteurs voisins ayant mis en place des démarches de transition. Le frein principal pour un changement de pratiques repose sur le langage qui construit des barrières entre des agriculteurs utilisant des concepts d'écologie (biodiversité, écosystème) plutôt portés par les agriculteurs biologiques et les acteurs institutionnels de cette filière ainsi que les agriculteurs dits conventionnels qui utilisent un vocabulaire issu de l’agronomie. Même si la notion de sécheresse, très prégnante lors de la réalisation des enquêtes, constitue un point de consensus et de dialogue entre agriculteurs, derrière ces langages se cachent des manières de concevoir le monde, des savoirs et un rapport au collectif très différents qui ne permettent pas une percolation des pratiques plus écologiques chez les conventionnels.
