Abstract
Ecotourism and other sustainable tourism management approaches are increasingly recognized as vital tools for achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), benefiting both local communities and visitors. However, evaluating their effectiveness across different contexts remains crucial. This study explores the impact of ecotourism growth in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with a particular focus on sustainability, community participation, and environmental conservation. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, data were collected from 109 respondents and analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability assessments, correlation analyses, and a hierarchical regression model. Findings indicate a strong interconnection between ecotourism development, sustainability, community engagement, and environmental protection. Furthermore, hierarchical regression analysis reveals that local community involvement significantly moderates the relationship between ecotourism growth and long-term sustainability.These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and tourism stakeholders in managing sustainable tourism practices in Vancouver, BC. The study underscores the crucial role of community engagement in maximizing ecotourism’s positive impact on both the environment and local populations. Strengthening community participation in ecotourism development can enhance its contributions to sustainable development, ensuring long-term benefits for all stakeholders involved.
