Prevalencia de enfermedades peri-implantarias en pacientes con osteoporosis: una revisión sistemática

Objetivo: Esta revisión sistemática tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de enfermedades peri-implantarias en pacientes afectados por osteoporosis rehabilita-dos con implantes dentales. Materiales y métodos: Una búsqueda electrónica fue realizada en las bases de datos Medline (PubMed), EMBASE, Scopus y Web of Science, complementado por una búsqueda manuales en las listas de referencias de los estu-dios revisados a texto completo. La búsqueda incluyó estudios observacionales que detectaron mucositis y/o peri-implantitis en pacientes afectados por osteoporosis rehabilitados con implantes dentales. El riesgo de sesgo se analizó con la herramienta de Newcastle-Ottawa. Resultados: La revisión incluyó un total de 10 artículos de 321 registros con intervalos de evaluación informados después de la colocación del im-plante entre 3 y 11 años. Todos los estudios que investigaron la presencia de mucositis y/o peri-implantitis informaron que no fue mayor en comparación a pacientes sisté-micamente sanos, independientemente de la edad, sexo, número de implantes, ubi-cación de implante, tiempo de toma de bifosfonatos orales. La prevalencia fue de 20% a nivel de mucositis y 22% a nivel de peri-implantitis en pacientes afectados por os-teoporosis. Conclusiones: Dentro de los límites de esta revisión sistemática, se recha-za que la prevalencia de peri-implantitis o fracaso de implantes dentales en pacientes con osteoporosis sea significativamente mayor que en pacientes no afectados.
