Dans le cadre de certaines situations pathologiques rares, le savoir médical fait défaut et l’incertain occupe alors un rôle primordial dans l’appréhension de la maladie. Cette dernière s’édifie au quotidien mais également dans la relation de soin et repose sur le récit d’une expérience singulière plus que sur des formes de connaissances préconçues et objectivées. Dans ce contexte, l’identité des patients et des aidants, leur rapport à eux-mêmes, aux autres et au monde, sont bouleversés et doivent pouvoir se reconstruire, notamment à partir des interactions soignants-soignés-aidants. Or, les savoirs expérientiels peuvent être considérés comme le substrat par lequel l’identité des acteurs du soin trouve une voie d’expression singulière dont il s’agit de mieux comprendre les liens avec le récit de soi. L’article se centre sur la dimension identitaire inhérente au savoir expérientiel, à partir du processus de mise en sens qui est associé à la démarche de mise en mots par les acteurs du soin. Mais la singularité de ces expériences individualisées n’acquiert son véritable sens qu’à travers le partage de ce vécu, dont le récit de soi se fait l’entremetteur principal. Dès lors, le propos porte également sur la dimension collective de l’identité mise en jeu dans le cadre des échanges entre soignants-soignés et aidants au sujet des savoirs d’expérience relatifs à leur situation.
