Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The main objective of our study was to assess the evolution of cardiorespiratory capacity after completing the Physical Activity and Health Process 53 (PAPS 53) program. We also studied changes in quality of life, physical performance, physiological adaptation to exercise, as well as weight and fat mass. This is a prospective, single-center, quantitative study conducted in the sports medicine department of the Laval Hospital Center (France) from March 2022 to June 2024. We compared VO 2 max measurements, and the main parameters recorded during an exercise test before and after 24 sessions of adapted physical activities spread over 12 weeks. We also studied the evolution of quality of life using the MOS SF-36 questionnaire. Seventy patients completed both exercise tests. The average age of our population was 54.5 years, with an average weight of 91.7 kg. The difference in VO 2 max between the beginning and the end of the program was +156 mL/min ( P < 0.001), representing a 7.8% average increase. There was also an increase in maximal aerobic power of 9 Watts, or 7.5% ( P < 0.001), and in power at the first ventilatory threshold (VT1) of 8 Watts, or 12% ( P < 0.001). There was a slight reduction in weight and abdominal circumference ( P < 0.05), along with an improvement in quality of life and in physical pain symptoms ( P < 0.05). The PAPS 53 program leads to improvements in aerobic capacity and quality of life with just 2 sessions per week over 12 weeks. It seems essential to us to promote adapted physical exercise and continue to develop his availability in the territory.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
