Parmi tous les métiers de la recherche, on retrouve au Québec, dans le réseau de la santé et des services sociaux (RSSS), cette catégorie étrange de chercheur·euse en établissement. Par rapport à d’autres métiers de la recherche, le métier de chercheur·euse en établissement présente une positionnalité spécifique en regard des institutions, des rapports de genre et des rapports de connaissance et de production scientifique. Je développe cette réflexion autour de trois idées: celle d’un avantage ethnographique formel et informel qui articule les positions d’ insider et d’ outsider , celle d’un métier à majorité féminine qui teinte à la fois ses conditions matérielles, mais aussi ses conditions de reconnaissance au sein des rapports de connaissance et, finalement, l’idée d’un rapport au terrain qui dépasse les moments ponctuels de la collecte de données pour prendre la forme d’une relation continue.
