De l’ordre de l’intime, parler de la sexualité est aussi un thème sensible en classe parce qu’il touche les valeurs et les représentations sociales des élèves ainsi que celles du personnel scolaire et confronte diverses manières de vivre en société. Intégrée depuis peu dans les programmes Culture et citoyenneté québécoise tout en gardant sa place dans le programme de science et technologie, l’éducation à la sexualité est offerte en fonction des compétences spécifiques du personnel et selon des approches différentes. Cet article propose de réfléchir sur l’EAS à partir de deux enquêtes différentes, l’une auprès des professeurs et professeures en formation initiale à l’université et l’autre auprès des enseignants et enseignantes en sciences de secondaire. Une première analyse s’attachera au concept des thèmes sensibles afin de comprendre ce qui rend ce contenu si sensible en classe et de dépasser le sens commun à cet égard. Une deuxième analyse cherchera à répertorier quelques défis que pose l’EAS à l’école secondaire, dont les différents types de savoirs à aborder, la posture enseignante dans cette «éducation à…» et la place accordée aux élèves dans cette discussion.
