Abstract
Le présent article s’intéresse à la métatextualité en tant que stratégie de mise en récit du trauma dans Le Voyage dans l’Est de Christine Angot. Elle apparaît effectivement comme un moyen de pallier l’écriture défaillante en ce qu’elle permet d’exposer les failles en question et de réfléchir à ce que (et à comment) l’écriture peut dire, mettant en évidence la fidélité à l’expérience — mais non à l’événement — revendiquée par la narratrice du roman, et par conséquent la ‘reconstitution’ à laquelle celle-ci se livre. Ainsi, la métatextualité, d’une part, fait ressortir la fonction de l’autofiction dans cette mise en récit et l’écart vis-à-vis du témoignage; d’autre part, elle crée et souligne explicitement la distance prise par rapport à la réalité traumatique et à la langue. Finalement, l’agentivité de l’auteure passe par cette métatextualité comme la démonstration ostentatoire d’un contrôle sur le texte — et, par extension, sur le trauma, malgré son caractère insaisissable.
