Plain Language SummaryWhat were the results?After 58.7 months (or approximately 5 years) from when participants started the study, more participants who received D-VRd had no signs of multiple myeloma in their bone marrow and were more likely to be alive and free from their multiple myeloma getting worse compared with participants who only received VRd. While some unwanted or undesirable effects of treatment, known as ‘side effects,’ were higher with D-VRd than VRd (such as infections), participants in both treatment groups experienced some side effects, and side effects were similar to those already known for these types of medicines.What do the results of the study mean?The results of the CEPHEUS study showed that among adults with a new diagnosis of multiple myeloma who could not have or did not want to have a transplant, participants who received the combination of D-VRd had better responses to treatment and lived longer free from worsening multiple myeloma compared with those who received only VRd.
