Abstract
For people with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the management of behavioural changes and cognitive deficits, including frontal executive symptoms, remains an important unmet need. The behavioural symptoms of FTD, which include impulsivity, agitation, lack of insight, and apathy, increase the difficulty of conducting double blind, placebo-controlled randomised trials in this patient population. A phase 2 trial now reported by Giacomo Koch and colleagues1 provides important evidence to support the feasibility of full-scale symptomatic treatment trials in patients with sporadic behavioural variant FTD (bvFTD).
