[pt] Esta dissertação é um estudo qualitativo e interpretativista (Denzin; Lincoln, 2006) de sensibilidade autoetnográfica (Ellis; Adams; Bochner, 2010) que emerge da reflexão sobre minhas vivências profissionais. Essas vivências são articuladas às experiências sociodiscursivas narradas por quatro professoras de idiomas que, assim como eu, exercem a profissão sem vínculo empregatício regido pela Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho (CLT), partindo da coconstrução de entendimentos sobre os fatores que influenciaram tal escolha. A partir do contexto de migração do trabalho formal para o autônomo, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo refletir sobre: i) as crenças (Barcelos, 2006) emergentes das avaliações feitas pelas participantes sobre a migração; ii) a possível influência dessas crenças neste processo; e iii) os impactos dessa transição em diferentes âmbitos de suas vidas. Inserida no campo interdisciplinar da Linguística Aplicada Crítica (Moita Lopes, 2006; Pennycook, 2022) e alinhada aos princípios da Prática Exploratória (Allwright, 2003; Miller et al ., 2008), convido as participantes da pesquisa para conversas exploratórias (Dias et al ., 2021) com o propósito de refletirmos coletivamente sobre essa migração. Com base nas histórias compartilhadas nessas conversas, observo os relatos coconstruídos sob as lentes do Sistema de Avaliatividade (Martin; White, 2005) e prossigo com a análise microdiscursiva para investigar quais discursos macrossociais hegemônicos da atualidade (Gee, 2015) emergem acerca da docência e do trabalho com vínculo empregatício, em contraste com o trabalho autônomo. Os entendimentos momentâneos indicam como as participantes avaliam os impactos da mercantilização da educação (Laval, 2004) nas instituições privadas onde lecionaram, uma vez que não concebem a educação como um bem ou serviço. Além disso, argumentam que compreendê-la como uma mercadoria legitima a transferência às professoras da responsabilidade de gerenciar e fidelizar clientes por meio da entrega de um produto de qualidade 一 as aulas. Contudo, suas crenças paradoxais as levam a se perceberem como empreendedoras de si mesmas (Han, 2015), internalizando a responsabilidade exclusiva por seus êxitos ou fracassos.
